朱亦兵現為中央音樂學院管弦系教授及大提琴教研室主任、中國音樂家協會理事及室內樂學會副主席、廣西交響樂團藝術總監、國家大劇院管弦樂團特邀首席、中央民族樂團特邀獨奏家。朱氏於1986年在日內瓦國際音樂比賽獲獎,成為首位在此國際比賽中獲獎的中國大提琴家。

朱氏自八歲起隨父親朱永寧學琴,十三歲出版第一張個人獨奏唱片,十七歲考入法國巴黎國立高等音樂學院,師隨法國大師讓德隆,並以第一獎的成績畢業。他曾擔任瑞士巴塞爾交響樂團首席大提琴十五年,亦同時擔任德國巴伐利亞電台交響樂團客席首席大提琴。朱氏在瑞士巴塞爾音樂學院進修指揮,曾指揮德國慕尼黑、哈雷、杜塞爾多夫、柏林、瑞士蘇黎世及捷克布拉格等交響樂團。朱氏於2004年回到中國後,曾參與多項教學、獨奏、重奏及指揮活動。

他創建的的朱亦兵大提琴樂團曾在國內數十個城市公益演出,亦曾到印度、荷蘭、德國和美國巡演。樂團曾出版大提琴八重奏《夢之旅》和大提琴四重奏《聖母頌》兩張專輯,並在2013年錄製紀念華格納誕辰二百周年的《大提琴六重奏全套華格納》專輯。

Chu Yi Bing is currently Professor and Head of the Research Institute of Cello Music of the Orchestral Instruments Department, the Central Conservatory of Music of China. He is also a director of the Chinese Musicians' Association and Vice Chairman of its Chamber Music Society, also Artistic Director of the Guangxi Symphony Orchestra, Principal Guest Artist of the China National Centre for the Performing Arts Orchestra and Guest Soloist of the China National Orchestra. In 1986 he was awarded in the Concours International d'Exécution Musicale, which made him the first Chinese cellist to win in a major international competition.

Chu received his first training in cello at the age of eight, taught by his father, Zhu Yong Ning, a famous cellist. He released his first solo album at the age of 13, and entered the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris at the age of 17, where he trained under Maurice Gendron, and graduated with a summa cum laude. After that, he was principal cellist with the Basel Symphony Orchestra, Switzerland for 15 years and at the same time, guest principal cellist of Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. He later studied conducting at the Basel Music Academy, and has since conducted many orchestras including the Munich Symphony, the Hallé, Düsseldorf Symphony, Berlin Symphony, Symphonisches Orchester Zürich and Prague Symphony. In 2004, Chu returned to China. On top of his teaching and concert performance (which includes solo, ensemble and conducting), he also participated in many social activities.

The Chu Yi Bing Cello Ensemble, which he founded, has performed for all over the cities of China. It has also toured India, Holland, Germany and the United States. The Ensemble has released two albums, Dream Way and Ave Maria, and a Wagner cycle for cello sextet in 2013 as a tribute to the composer's bicentennial birthday.
