A native of Hong Kong, Andrew Ling is currently the principal violist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, and an adjunct faculty member of the Hong Kong Baptist University and The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. In the past, he assumed the role of Concertmaster at the Indiana University (IU) Concert Orchestra, Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, and the principal violist of the IU Philharmonic Orchestra. He is also the Guest Conductor for Hong Kong Baptist University Symphony Orchestra. He has worked with maestros including Jaap van Zweden, Edo de Wart, Leonard Slatkin, Lorin Maazel, to name a few. A dedicated music educator, Ling has directed The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Orchestral Fellowship Scheme as well as been invited to teach at the Taiwan Symphony Orchestra Youth Music Camp.
Recipient of a Conducting Fellowship with the American Academy of Conducting at Aspen (AACA) in 2013, Johnny Ng made his debut with the AACA Orchestra in July the same year. He is currently serving as the Guest Conductor for the Hong Kong Children's Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Polytechnic University Orchestra and Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra.
A graduate from the Eastman School of Music in New York, Ng studied viola performance under the tutelage of George Taylor and received his Master of Music degree in 2012. Ng also holds a Performer's Certificate from the John J. Cali School of Music, where he studied with violist Li Honggang from the Shanghai Quartet. In March 2013, he made his appearance with the Shanghai Quartet at the Carnegie Hall in New York.
As a versatile musician, Ng is also an avid conductor and his teachers include Robert Spano, Ken Lam and Mark Scatterday. In March 2012, he was invited to participate in the Conductors Guild's Conductor Training Workshop at the Cleveland Institute of Music to study with Carl Topilow and Theodore Kuchar. He has served as the Assistant Conductor for the Pasadena Young Musicians' Orchestra and the Music Director for the San Gabriel Valley Alliance Church in California. He also served as the Assistant Conductor to Ken Lam in Montclair, New Jersey in 2012-2013.
